I was circuit accounts servant for 6 years until I stepped down as an elder because of my awakening. I can honestly say that at times we tried as hard as we could to be dishonest with the the brothers. If the time for the accounts report was coming up shortly and we were doing good with contributions, the assembly overseer would change the wording to make it sound as if we still needed more money to cover expenses even though we had more than enough.

"Deficit" at JW Assembly
by cookiemaster ini've recently been at an assembly here in romania and there was an announced they were running a 10,000 euro deficit and urging all attendees to donate more money besides the already 5k has was donated during that day.
i really don't understand these things.
it's their own assembly hall.

Strip off the old personality
by eyeuse2badub inyesterday’s watchtower talked about how by becoming a jw it enabled “worldly” people to ‘strip off the old personality’ and make really significantly good changes in their life.. paragraph named 4 individuals (anonymous names of course and probably embellished tales)) sakura, ribeiro, stephen, and hans.
their lives changed for the good because they found god or because they became jw’s---right?.
so on the way home from this wt meeting, my wife commented to me how wonderful our brotherhood is and how it helps people who would otherwise be ‘lost’ n this world.

A half-brother of mine in California had been in gangs his whole life. Did time in prison and everything else that comes with gang life. At about 40 years of age, while in prison, he became a born again Christian. He stopped all his gang activities and transformed into a different person. What helped him change? It certainly wasn't the witnesses or Jehovah. Jws, no matter what they wish to believe, do not have a monopoly on changing peoples lives for the better. Many organizations and religions have the same effect on people. Jws choose to ignore that fact. -

I'm sure others here have seen some of his videos. They have to do with different subjects such as losing faith, conformity, grooming minds, etc. I highly recommend this channel. -

I would say 75-85% of adult jws don't know how to carry a conversation at the doors and 95-100% of young people have no idea. So it'll be interesting to see what happens. Most people are barely comfortable placing mags or tracts.

If WT are cutting back on mags will they also cut back on Bethelites?
by truthseeker ini was thinking after hearing about the agm cutbacks to the mags and other website content surely they will end up dismissing more bethelites?
i would have thought in the old days, before the web, an artist or writer at bethel would have been a full time job making content for four 32 page mags a month.
now what are these guys going to do?.

I believe bethels around the globe are the next big cutback. With all these cutbacks to publications there won't be a need for so many bethelites distributed in many departments that were tied to the publishing work. I can imagine many long time bethelites are having sleepless nights not knowing what there future holds in bethel.

It does sound a bit suspicious for us in the West but maybe this is the terminology that is used in Nigeria. It wouldn't surprise any of us if it is authentic because of the regular demanding of money nowadays from the gb.
